In Pokemon Lazarus GBA version 2.0, there’s one item you really need to track downthe Heart Scale. It’s super handy you can either use it to complete a side quest or just sell it when you need some extra cash. To start farming this item, you’ll ideally want to have your 4 badge already. By that point, you’ll most likely have HM03 Surf and TM46 Thief. Alright, let’s just jump right into it.
Hidden Item
- Location : Riverwalk Trail south
- How to get it : Just press the "A" button on the bush near the river. You can get 1 Heart Scale here, even before earning your second badge.
Wild Finneon with Held Item
Wild Finneon in Pokemon Lazarus version 2.0, have a 50% chance of holding a Heart Scale. I think this is the easiest way to get an unlimited supply of Heart Scales in the mid-game. But before you start, make sure you’ve got a few things sorted out first.

Preparation
Before you start hunting, make sure you have the following:
- Fishing Rod: At the very least, you need the Good Rod, which you can get from a fisherman in Sofos City.
- HM03 Surf: This is actually optional, since you can still encounter Finneon with just the Good Rod. But if you want more flexibility, you get Surf from Niko after completing the "Chimera's Mega Plan" mission in Asfal Hills.
- A Pokémon with TM46 Thief: This lets you steal items from wild Pokémon. You can find this TM in the river inside Froslass Cave, so you'll need Surf and your fourth badge to explore that area.
- A Pokémon with Covet: An alternative if you don't have Thief yet. For example, you can use an Eevee from Jusmail Town. Use the Dexnav to find one that knows Covet.
- A Pokémon with the Ability Frisk: This ability tells you if the wild Finneon is holding a Heart Scale. But from my experience, it's not really necessary, since the drop rate is already 50%.
Hunt (Step-by-Step)
- Make sure the Pokémon with Thief/Covet is in your party and is not holding any items.
- If you're using the fishing method, I recommend Pythios Cemetery because it has the highest encounter rate (60%), and there's a pond there. Super easy to farm.
- If you prefer surfing, I suggest Riverwalk Trail (West) or Kosfos City. You can also use the Dexnav to find bubbles in the water, but they shift around, so make sure to bring Repels so wild Pokémon don't interrupt you.
- Once in battle, immediately use Thief/Covet.
- After the battle, check the Pokémon that used Thief/Covet. The Heart Scale should be there.
- Rinse and repeat until you feel you have enough. With a 50% drop rate, you should be getting about 1 Heart Scale every 2 or 3 Finneon encounters.
