This guide is based on Pokemon Elysium version 2.4.0 of the game. This quest is straightforward and highly rewarding. Prerequisite: You must have completed the main story segment where you help Jane investigate the Free Wing organization inside Mt. Lonelytop.
1. Starting the Quest
- Return to the cave in Mt. Lonelytop where you met Jane. The Hiker who was blocking the path will now be gone.
- Head north, take the stairs, and continue north/northeast to find a cave exit leading to the other side of the mountain.
- As you walk near a "Trainer Tips" sign, the side quest "A Tail To Tell" will automatically begin.
2. The Suspicious Restaurant
Enter the restaurant you find and speak to the owner. A cutscene will play where you order food, eat it, and are abruptly thrown out.
3. Finding the Witch
- Head south from the restaurant and turn right. You will see what looks like a tree blocking the path, but it's just an illusion—walk through it.
- Follow the path up the stairs until you find a secluded house.
- Inside, speak to the woman sitting down. She will challenge you to a battle.
- After you defeat her, she introduces herself as Astrid, a witch. She will ask you to accept a dangerous mission to investigate the restaurant, which is allegedly selling dishes made from Slowpoke tails. Speak to her again to agree, and she will give you a Restaurant Key.
4. Investigating the Cave
- Return to the restaurant, use the key to enter, and go north to find a hidden cave entrance in the back.
- Inside, you'll find many Slowpoke. Speak to a young boy there; he is just a cleaner. Battle him, and after winning, he will reveal that the people behind this operation have gone to the West Edge Bazaar for an auction.
5. Reporting to the Police
- Return to Astrid's house and inform her of your findings. She will instruct you to go to the Police Department in Astrantia City and gives you a Twisted Spoon as a reward for your help so far.
- Note: You must continue the main story until you reach Astrantia City to proceed.
6. Becoming a Ranger (Main Story Progression)
- Once in Astrantia City, go to the Police Department. The receptionist will tell you this matter is now the responsibility of the Pokémon Rangers.
- To continue this side quest, you must progress the main story until you officially become a member of the Pokémon Rangers.
7. The Ranger Mission
- After becoming a Ranger, return to the police station. The receptionist will now direct you to find a Ranger named Cyra at the Ranger's HQ.
- Speak to Cyra, and she will provide you with a Fake ID.
8. Infiltrating the Auction
- Travel to Route 5 and enter the West Edge Bazaar. Your Fake ID will grant you entry.
- Find your rival, Brendan, inside and speak to him twice.
- He will take you to a mansion to infiltrate the auction.
9. Rescuing the Slowpoke
- Brendan will task you with freeing the captured Slowpoke. Head left and down to find a basement.
- Inside, you'll meet a pirate. After a conversation, you'll see the imprisoned Slowpoke.
- To free them, you must complete a simple puzzle: Interact with a machine to the north/northeast (a Voltorb will appear).
- Interact with another machine to the north/northwest.
- Then, press A on each machine next to the Slowpoke cages, working from the bottom-right to the left, to release them all.
10. Completing the Quest
- Once all Slowpoke are free, a previously locked gate will open. Go through it to find Cyra, who has arrived to collect the Slowpoke.
- Return to Brendan and speak to him to officially complete the mission.
- Finally, speak to Cyra again. She will inform you that a previously locked room in the Ranger HQ is now accessible as your reward.
