Route 3
- Explore this route and pick up scattered items like Potion, Poké Ball, Escape Rope, and Antidote. As you head east, your Rival suddenly appears and challenges you to a battle. Defeat them! Their team consists of a level 11 Rookidee and a level 14 Eevee.
- After the battle, you and your Rival walk together. A cutscene triggers: an assistant is ambushed by two Team Pluto members, Clancy and Ena, who steal the assistant's DexNav. Help the assistant, who tells you the thieves fled toward Rubarr Desert. From where the assistant stands, head south into the desert.
Rubarr Desert
- Upon arrival, you'll immediately spot a Team Pluto member. Defeat them.
- Continue exploring until you meet a Tour Guide. They explain: "Rubarr Desert is an extreme desert with unpredictable weather. You may encounter sandstorms that continuously drain your Pokémon's HP, or scorching heat that boosts Fire-type moves and weakens Water-type ones. Be cautious exploring the caves here powerful Pokémon live inside."
- In the desert, you'll also find Nurse Jaina. She can heal your Pokémon, but only if you defeat her in battle first.
- Thoroughly explore every corner of the desert (prepare Repels if needed). Items you can collect include: Great Ball, Soft Sand, TM43 Flame Charge, Star Piece, and don't forget to check suspicious rocks for hidden items like Sun Stone.
- Your next goal is to find Rubarr Desert Oasis, located in the desert's center. It's easily recognizable by the pool of water and surrounding green grass, where you can find a Mystic Water. There, you'll encounter Clancy and Ena. Your Rival also appears, leading to a Double Battle. Defeat them: Zubat (level 12), Croagunk (level 12), and Venipede (level 13).
- After they're defeated, Team Pluto Admin Irene appears. She's furious at Clancy and Ena for failing their mission and losing the location of the powerful Pokémon they were after. Irene blames you both and challenges you to a battle. Her team: Nickit (level 14), Sandile (level 14), and Salandit (level 15). After defeating her, Irene leaves to report the failure to her superiors.
- After the battle, Clancy and Ena finally return the stolen DexNav. Mockingly, they claim the device is broken and should be thrown away, calling you the "trash can." Ignore them the important thing is the DexNav is back.
- Now, leave the desert and return to Route 3.
Route 3
- Meet the assistant on Route 3 we all know it's Professor Hawthorne's assistant. Talk to them to return the DexNav. Your Rival also appears here. Once the assistant learns your name, they give you the DexNav, saying it was meant for you all along.
- To access DexNav: Press Start > Exit > press Right.
- With that settled, continue your journey to Route 4 by heading north.
Route 4
- Explore this route carefully. You can find items like Super Potion, Dire Hit, and Quick Claw. Don't forget to check suspicious rocks for hidden items.
- Keep heading north. You'll find a Hiker and another worker trying to move a large boulder. They explain that a recent landslide caused a pile of rocks to block the direct path to Ferrox Village. With no other option, head east. You'll see a cave entrance leading to Torma Cave (this is actually a detour; you'll return to Route 4 later).
Torma Cave
For clarity, I'll refer to the cave's floors as 1F to 3F. Upon entering, you're on 1F. Explore carefully; items like Great Ball, Escape Rope, and Smooth Rock can be found here.
Head right, then up. A cutscene triggers: you meet a trainer named Casey, lost in the cave while collecting all Gym Badges in the Kulure region. Naturally, they challenge you to a battle. Casey's team: Elgyem (level 15) and Horsea (level 17). After defeating them, you become friends. Follow Casey to the stairs leading down to 2F.
Torma Cave 2F is an icy area with slippery floor puzzles. Here's the step-by-step guide:
First Ice Puzzle:
- Slide down, turn left, slide down again, then move left. You'll reach the second ice puzzle.
Second Ice Puzzle (Stage 1 – Finding the Path):
- Left (slide until hitting a rock)
- Down (slide until hitting a wall)
- Right (slide until hitting a rock)
- Up (slide until hitting a rock)
- Left (slide until hitting a rock)
- Down (slide until hitting a rock)
- Right (slide until hitting a rock)
- Down (slide until finding a new area)
From here, moving right leads to stairs going back to 1F (other side). Moving down leads to a cave exit to another part of Route 4. There, turn left into a tree-surrounded area and pick up the Rose Incense. If you continue right, you'll reach Route 13.
Route 13
- Explore Route 13. You can find TM39 Rock Tomb, Protein, and HvyDutyBoost (Heavy-Duty Boots). Some areas are inaccessible without HM Rock Smash. Keep going until you find the Carnelige Volcano Rest House. Here, you can heal your Pokémon and buy items like Fresh Water, Revive, Repel, and more. A large boulder blocks the path above this building—you need HM Strength to move it, which you don't have yet. For now, return to Route 4 and re-enter Torma Cave.
Back to Torma Cave 2F – Second Ice Puzzle (Stage 2 – Finding the Snowball):
- Up (slide to the nearest rock)
- Left (slide until hitting a rock)
- Down (walk one step right)
- Up (slide until hitting a rock)
- Left (slide until hitting a rock)
- Down, then Left (slide until finding a new area)
In this area, you'll find the Snowball item. After collecting it, return to the second ice puzzle area.
Second Ice Puzzle (Stage 3 – Heading to the Rival's Area):
- Right (slide until hitting a rock)
- Up (slide until hitting a rock)

- Left (slide until hitting a rock)
- Down (slide until hitting a rock)
- Right (slide until hitting a rock)
- Up (slide to a new area)
Move left. You'll find your Rival training, but their Eevee has fainted. They desperately need a Revive. If you have one, give it to them. As thanks, they'll give you 3 Ultra Balls. From where the Rival stands, head up. You'll find the Third Ice Puzzle.
Third Ice Puzzle (Finding the Ice Stone):
- Right (slide until hitting a rock)
- Down (slide until finding a new area)
- Jump down, pick up the Ice Stone.
After that, return to the Rival's location, then move left back to the third ice puzzle to find the next item.
Third Ice Puzzle (Finding NeverMeltIce):
- Right (slide until hitting a rock)
- Up (slide until hitting a rock)
- Left (slide until hitting a rock)
- Down (slide until hitting a rock)
- Left (slide until hitting a rock)
- Up (slide until hitting a rock)
- Left (slide until hitting a rock)
- Up (slide until hitting a rock)
- Right (slide until hitting a rock)
- Up (slide to a new area)
Here, you'll find the NeverMeltIce item. Now, exit this puzzle area. From where you picked up NeverMeltIce:
- Down (slide until hitting a rock)
- Right (slide until hitting a rock)
- Down (slide until hitting a rock)
- Left (slide until hitting a rock)
- Up (slide to a new area)
Move right. You'll find stairs leading to Torma Cave 3F. On this floor, keep moving left until you find the exit leading back to Route 4.
Route 4
- Upon exiting the cave, you'll meet the Hiker who was moving the large boulder earlier. This time, they report the rocks have been cleared, and the path is now open. Grumbling slightly, they say they can't wait to leave and that Torma Cave was too dangerous. They mention heading to Heleo City soon.
- Now, explore all newly accessible areas of Route 4. You can find items like TM01 Work Up and Grassy Seed. Once done exploring, continue north. You'll arrive at Ferrox Village.
Ferrox Village
- Explore every corner of this village. You can find items like Absorb Bulb and Full Heal.
- Enter the house on the right side of the Pokémart. Inside, you'll find a girl who offers to trade give her your Snom and she'll give you her Chinchou in return
- The Poké Mart here is a bit different. There are two clerks, so make sure to talk to both.
- The first clerk sells standard items: Poké Ball, Potion, Antidote, Paralyze Heal, etc.
- The second clerk specializes in Berries, offering a wide selection: Oran Berry, Sitrus Berry, Chesto Berry, Cheri Berry, Pecha Berry, Rawst Berry, Aspear Berry, Persim Berry, and Leppa Berry.
- To the left of the Poké Mart, there's a house. Enter and talk to the girl inside; she'll give you a Sitrus Berry.
- Go down the stairs in front of the Pokémon Center. There, a Hiker is facing a wall. They mention that this place holds many precious gems and minerals. To mine, you need a tool called an ADM. Since you don't have one yet, they offer a rental service: mining once costs 1000 PokéDollars.
- Now, head to the city's Gym. As you approach the entrance, your Rival appears. They tell you that Stella, the Gym Leader, is out. However, Stella often visits the library.
Ferrox Village Find GYM Leader
Next, find the building called Ferrox Village Library. Enter and talk to everyone inside; be ready to battle several trainers. Inside the library, look for a man with glasses guarding a room. Talk to him, and he'll deny entry. He says the room is a VIP area for Ferrox Circle Gym members. However, he offers you a riddle. If you answer correctly, he'll let you in.
The riddle is:
"What is the Ferrox Gym Leader's greatest treasure?"
To solve it, don't just guess. Look around the room. Several books are scattered on the library floor. Approach and press A on each examinable book. There are seven books in total, each containing one brightly colored letter.
Collect and arrange these seven letters to form the password: L-I-B-R-A-R-Y.
Once you have the answer, talk to the man with glasses again. Enter the password "Library". Your answer is correct, and he lets you into the VIP room. Now you can proceed inside.
Ferrox Village Library – VIP Room
- Upon entering, approach a blonde man with glasses sitting down. When you talk to him, your Rival suddenly appears. After some small talk, you get to know each other. Turns out, this man isn't Gym Leader Stella. His name is Alistair, a Pokémon researcher studying Pokémon mythology. The conversation is warm until Alistair has to leave for another matter. Before going, he gifts you HM01 Cut.
- Remember, to use Cut outside of battle, you must first obtain the Ferrox Village Gym Badge.
- Right after Alistair leaves, a woman who had been listening to your conversation speaks up. It's Stella, the Ferrox Village Gym Leader you've been searching for. She says she's waiting for you at the Gym. Now, there's no reason to delay. Head straight to the Gym building.
Ferrox Village Gym – Leader Stella
Note: Stella isn't a specialist in any particular Pokémon type. Her battle style revolves around status effects like Burn, Poison, and Paralysis. So, before challenging her, make sure you're prepared.
Recommended Preparation:
- Buy status-healing Berries at the Poké Mart: Rawst Berry (cures burn), Pecha Berry (cures poison), and Cheri Berry (cures paralysis).
- It's very helpful to bring a Pokémon that can use the move Taunt. This prevents the opponent from freely using status moves on your team.
Stella's Team (Default Mode):
- Mareanie: Watch out for Toxic; its poison worsens each turn.
- Carkol (Level 19): Be wary of Will-O-Wisp, which can burn your physical attackers.
- Togetic (Level 20): The combination of Thunder Wave (paralysis) and Air Slash (which may cause flinching) can make it hard for you to move.
After defeating Stella, you'll receive the Patch Badge and TM06 Toxic. This badge also unlocks the ability to use HM01 Cut in the field, allowing you to pass through previously blocked paths with small trees. Now, head west to Route 5.
