Hello, everyone! I just wanted to share my experience playing the Pokémon Team Rocket Edition by DragonsDen, released on April 30, 2025. This write-up can be considered a brief guide, so please forgive any shortcomings, inaccuracies, or errors. By the way, I have no affiliations with anyone while writing this short guide; I worked on it independently while playing. The process took a long time and wasn't easy!
Intro
Late 20th century. Kanto is struggling to crawl out of the rubble left by the Great War, which erupted three years ago. Amid this crisis, Lance and the Elite Four have emerged as the new rulers, unilaterally ushering in an era of reconstruction. A move not fully embraced by many, this isn't true leadership it's a cunning takeover, feeding on Kanto's dying state.
Resistance has taken root, not through heroic acts, but through organized crime syndicates. Some, like the Fuchsia biker gangs, merely dream of returning to the prewar days. But Team Rocket is different. They are the apex predators: most feared, most structured, and most dangerous. Their strategy? Recruiting young trainers to carry out dirty operations, filling their coffers for a secret project of unimaginable scale.
And it is in this very context that your footsteps lead you to their recruitment door.
Prologue: Welcome to the Rocket Warehouse
(Five Isle Meadow)
So, you've officially joined Team Rocket. In this hidden underground headquarters located in Five Isle Meadow, the influential Archer greets you with a rousing welcome. After a brief but fiery speech, the Pokémon distribution begins. Every new recruit, including you, gets only one option a Zubat. No bargaining. Take it or leave it.
But don't worry, the base is wellequipped. Down in the basement, near the exit stairs, there's a Rocket Pokémon Center to heal your team. Make good use of it before heading up.
Once you climb the stairs and step onto the main floor, your first mission is simple:
Defeat every Team Rocket Grunt you encounter. Show no mercy; this is about pride.
Collect all scattered items:
- Potion (pick up directly)
- Pearl
- Big Pearl
- King's Rock, crucial, don't miss it.
Find Archer's office. He holds the key to your next mission.
First Mission: A Lesson for the Local Consul
Once you locate Archer's office, he immediately assigns your first mission. Your target: an arrogant local Consul stationed at Resort Gorgeous, located to the north of the island. The objective is simple: "Teach him a lesson."
However, there's a drama before you depart. You must defeat your rival, Andra. This isn't just about pride; it's to prove you're worthy of being deployed. Upon victory, Archer will reward you with a Sentret. This Pokémon can already use Surf, allowing you to cross the water without needing any badges. It's incredibly practical.
Now, leave the headquarters. The official mission begins.
At Five Isle Meadow: Preparation Before Departure
Before rushing to board the ship, take a moment to visit one important spot:
Rank Up Training: Find a Team Rocket member facing the beach. They offer a training session to rank up. Defeat them to receive 5 Poké Balls—a great start for your stock. Even better, you can battle them repeatedly to grind your team's levels.
Find a Hidden TM:
- Use Surf from the beach.
- Swim left, then head up.
- At the end, you'll find TM198 Mud Slap. This is a solid addition for Ground-type coverage in the early game.
Before heading to your main destination, you can optionally visit the Memorial Pillar for the side quest mentioned earlier, or simply ignore it.
Side Quest: Memorial Pillar Lemonade
(Optional, but the reward is tempting)
Before heading to your main objective, it's worth taking a quick detour. This side quest is entirely optional, but trust me, the reward is well worth it, especially in the early stages of the game.
How to Get There:
From Five Isle Meadow, use Surf and swim to the right, then head down along the island's edge until you reach its tip. There, you'll spot a small, secluded island inhabited by a single trainer and a simple grave.
The Story Behind the Grave:
The trainer stands frozen before the grave of his beloved Onix. He shares that Onix used to love Lemonade. Now, he wishes to place a can of Lemonade as a final tribute, but there's a problem: the drink seems to have vanished from the Sevii Islands.
This is your moment to nod and select "Yes" to help. He then whispers a clue: a chef at the Five Island Pokémon Center supposedly has a stock of Lemonade. Unfortunately, the chef will only sell it to wealthy customers.
Item Warning!
Before heading back to Five Isle Meadow, don't rush off. From where the trainer stands, walk downward. At the end, you'll find a Metal Coat lying on the ground. This rare item is a must-have, whether for collection or future evolution.
Quick Steps for the Side Quest:
- From Memorial Pillar, surf back to Five Isle Meadow, then walk up toward Five Island.
- Find the Chef: Enter the Pokémon Center. Inside, you'll see a sailor named Sailor Casper lounging. He's the chef.
- Talk, Then Battle: Ask him for the Lemonade. As expected, he'll flatly refuse since you're not an elite customer. The only solution? Defeat him in battle. After winning, he'll surrender, and you can take one box of Lemonade.
- Pay Your Respects: Return the Lemonade to the trainer at Memorial Pillar. Give it to him to place on Onix's grave.
- Receive the Reward: As a token of gratitude, he'll give you a Phanpy (Lv. 8) holding a Meteorite!
Once this is done, it's time to return to the main path.
Back to the main mission
- From Five Isle Meadow, walk north to Five Island.
- From Five Island, use Surf to sail north toward the Water Labyrinth until you reach Resort Gorgeous.
- At Resort Gorgeous, enter the house inside the resort and defeat the Consul.
- After winning, pick up the Exp. Share.
- Return to the headquarters in Five Isle Meadow.
Back to Headquarters
- Report to Archer in his office to receive a reward of ₽25,000 and a Pokémon Egg.
- Receive Mission Two from Archer: sail to Kanto via the Five Island Dock.
