Route 8
- Go down the moving stairs to the right, then head up until you find a straight escalator. Turn left, go down, and you will find an item you can pick up: King's Rock.
- From the spot where you found the King's Rock, go back to the escalator and head up. There is a tree you can Cut. Behind it you will find a Poison Barb.
- From where you got the Poison Barb, go right, then head down until you reach the end. Turn left to find TM40 Aerial Ace.
- Now go north until you see stairs leading down to the beach (on the left) and a Gate (on the right).
- Go down the stairs to the beach. Your rival is there fishing. He brags about his record of reeling in 9 Pokemon. He challenges you to beat his record and reminds you that you do not need to catch the Pokemon with a Poke Ball. Just hooking them is enough. He will wait for you and says you can challenge him anytime.
- In this beach area, there is a house called the Daimyn Fishing Committee. Go inside and talk to one of the fishermen. You will receive a Good Rod. With this, you can challenge your rival by fishing for 10 Pokemon (you do not need to catch them, just reel them in and run). Once you have fished more than 10, talk to him again and he will give you 5 Nest Balls.
- From the rival's position, go down and to the left. You will find a Shell Bell.
Now head to the Gate. As soon as you step out of the Gate, your rival suddenly appears and challenges you to a battle.
- Corvisquire Lv. 30
- Flaaffy Lv. 30
- Eevee Lv. 32
After you defeat him, he gives you a Macho Brace. Then you and your rival head to Daimyn City together. He says he knows everything about the region's capital, Kulure, and offers to be your tour guide.
Daimyn City
- As soon as the two of you arrive, your rival immediately takes you on a tour around the city. He says there are several must-visit places.
- First, he points out a famous restaurant. Eating here can temporarily make your Pokemon stronger. It is pretty useful as preparation before important battles. After that, he takes you to the interdimensional research facility. He mentions that the researchers here are working with scientists from Alola to study the mysterious place called Ultra Space. Next, you stop by the park in the center of the city. Your rival tells you that the park used to be very large, but it has slowly shrunk as the city developed. Even so, wild Pokemon still seem to really like it. Then he drags you to Daimyn City Shopping Mall, the largest shopping center in the entire region. He says you can find almost anything you need here.
- In the middle of the conversation, Champion Selene suddenly appears. She smiles and offers to show you her favorite spots. She starts with the strategically located and easy-to-reach Pokemon Center, then shows you the Gym building, and finally the Ascension Tower. This is the tower where trainers challenge the Elite Four and the Champion. During the conversation, someone appears. It turns out to be Alistair, the researcher you previously met in Ferrox Village.
Important Places in Daimyn City:
Shopping Mall
Inside the shopping mall, look for the woman at the information desk who also serves as the PokeLotto attendant. Every day she draws a random Pokemon for free (no registration fee).
- If you have seen the drawn Pokemon, you win a Pearl.
- If you have already caught it, the prize is bigger: Big Pearl.
- You can also buy various items here, including a complete selection of evolution stones.
Restaurant
- Go back to the restaurant you saw earlier. Once inside, talk to a customer who is sitting down. He will give you Leftovers. Then press A on the table in front of the cashier or chef to get 100 PokeChips.
- Talk to the chef as well. He will explain that this restaurant can give your Pokemon a temporary buff before important battles, such as against Gym Leaders. Do not forget to donate PokeChips to the restaurant to maximize the food's effect.
TM46 Thief
- To the left of the restaurant, there is a house. Inside you can obtain TM46 Thief.
Trade
- There is a house to the west. A gentleman there offers to trade his Riolu for your Eevee.
Unique Poké Balls
- At the Pokémon Center, there is a man to the right of the PC who sells various unique Poké Balls once a day for 1,500 Pokédollars. Just buy them..
Lana's Lab: Home of the Kulure PC Expansion Effort
- There is a building called Lana's Lab: Home of the Kulure PC Expansion Effort. Go inside. Lana will explain the PC features, including the very useful Quality of Life (QoL) feature where you can press SELECT to move multiple Pokemon at once (mass release/move). Do not forget to talk to Lana again after you defeat the Pokemon League and become Champion to unlock new secret PC features.
False Swipe
- Head to the northeast. You will find a small tree. Use Cut, then walk through the gaps between the trees to find TM54 False Swipe.
Move Tutor (Egg, Relearner & Delete)
- There is a house containing a very useful Move Tutor (an old lady). She can help you relearn level-up moves (Move Relearner) for just 1 PokeChip. She can also teach Egg Moves for 10 PokeChips. Next to her is an old man who is a Move Deleter.
Move Tutor
- In front of the Ascension Tower, turn slightly left and you will find a house. Inside, a man with glasses can teach moves like Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Heal Bell, Helping Hand, Spite, Pain Split, and Magic Room for 5 PokeChips each.
Gift Pikachu & move Volt Tackle
- Slightly up and to the right of the restaurant, there is a house. Inside, an old man who was once a Champion will give you a gift Pokemon: a Pikachu wearing a cap holding a Light Ball.
- If you talk to the old man (the former Champion) again after receiving the Pikachu, he can now teach the move Volt Tackle as a specialized tutor, but only to Pichu, Pikachu, or Kantonian Raichu.
Once you are done with everything, it is time to challenge the Gym Leader. The Gym is located to the left of the Pokemon Center.
Challenging the Daimyn City Gym
This part introduces the unique Gym challenge mechanic!
As soon as you enter the Gym, a mysterious man suddenly appears and greets you. He will ask your purpose for coming here: to challenge the Gym Leader or just to play the slot machines. Choose "The Gym!" He will then escort you to the cashier, where you will be given a Coin Case and 500 free Coins to start.
The mysterious man explains that Gym Leader Chance only accepts challenges from people who can prove they are smart gamblers. After he leaves, the cashier will explain the main rules of this Gym:
Requirements to Battle Gym Leader Chance:
You must collect 2,000 Coins to open the barrier blocking access to the Gym Leader's room.
Ways to Get Coins:
- Battle Casino Visitors: Most people inside the casino are actually undercover Gym Trainers. Defeating them is the safest, most reliable, and most profitable way to earn coins!
- Play the Slot Machines: You can try to double your coins here, but remember this heavily depends on luck.
- Buy Coins: If you have a lot of money from previous battles, you can take a shortcut and buy coins directly (10 Poke Dollars per coin).
Prize Corner Info:
- To your left, you will find the Prize Corner. You can exchange your coins for interesting prizes such as rare Pokemon and exclusive items. However, you cannot buy prizes until you defeat the Gym Leader.
Easiest way to get coins: Talk to every person in the room or those playing the slot machines. Many of them will challenge you to battle. The prize for winning is coins. Defeat all the Gym Trainers to reach 2,000 coins.
Make sure you have collected 2,000 coins from beating the Gym Trainers, because the path to Leader Chance is blocked by a barrier that only opens with coins. In the upper right area, you will see the barrier. To the right of the barrier is a slot machine. Press A on it and insert your 2,000 coins. The barrier will open, and you can enter to challenge Leader Chance.
Gym Leader Chance's Team (Default Mode):
- Minior (Lv. 31): An annoying lead. It often sets up Light Screen and Reflect to strengthen its team's defense, then hits with Ancient Power.
- Dusclops (Lv. 33): A master of status effects. Watch out for the Will-O-Wisp + Hex combo, which deals massive damage to statused Pokemon.
- Lanturn (Lv. 31): Quite fast with Volt Switch for rotation, and Spark that can paralyze.
Rewards for Victory:
- Roundabout Badge
- TM72, TM89, and TM94
- 2,000 coins (return of your investment)
- Ability to use Fly outside of battle
After defeating Chance, the Prize Corner will officially open. You can exchange your collected coins for various prizes, ranging from rare Pokemon like Dratini to exclusive held items that are not sold in regular shops. Next destination towards Route 9
