Quick Walkthrough Pokémon Fire of Sky version 1.0.3

Pokémon Fire of Sky version 1.0.3 is a game that takes you back to ancient times, long before Poké Balls were invented and before the term Pokémon Trainer even existed. Built using the pokeemerald-expansion engine, this ROM hack offers a fun yet not overly difficult adventure set in a world where the relationship between humans and Pokémon feels truly unique.

You play as an ordinary village youth who begins his journey alongside a very special companion Pokémon. However, the peaceful mountain village you call home is suddenly disturbed when Pokémon in various regions become aggressively hostile without any clear reason. With strong determination, you set out to investigate the origin of this anger, uncover the mystery behind it, and restore peace before the situation gets even worse.

Game Information:

  • Creator: Teon
  • Version: 1.0.3
  • Hack of: Emerald
  • Updated: June 3, 2026
  • Language: English
  • Status: Completed

Highlight Features

  • Pokémon Following System: Your Pokémon walks behind you at all times, making every step feel closer and more personal.
  • Passive Healing: Your Pokémon’s HP recovers little by little while you travel, so you don’t need to visit the Pokémon Center often.
  • Built-In Move Relearner: Forgot a move? No worries, you can relearn it directly from the Pokémon’s Summary screen without needing a special NPC.
  • Special Forms and New Visuals: Discover various alternate forms of Pokémon and enjoy updated visuals specifically designed to match the ancient atmosphere of this game.

Important Tips

  • Don’t forget to check the Move Relearner feature in the Pokémon Summary Screen. Many useful moves can be relearned there.  As long as you’re willing to encounter and battle the wild Pokémon you meet, you will hardly need to grind at all. (There are no Trainer battles in this game.)
  • Explore every area thoroughly, because many items are hidden and can be very helpful when facing strong opponents.
  • Make full use of Passive Healing. Just keep walking, and your Pokémon’s HP will recover slowly.
  • TM (Scrolls) can be used multiple times and are available in the village shop. You can also sell unused items for extra money.
  • Oran Berry and Sitrus Berry have enhanced effects, so don’t hesitate to save them because they are extremely useful in critical moments.

I played Pokemon Fire of Sky version 1.0.3 and then wrote its guide. However, I’m not sure it can be called a complete walkthrough. I had quite a hard time describing the exact locations of items, so I decided to use images as a visual aid. For directional instructions, I used compass directions.

  • A grandmother (Grandha) was telling a bedtime story to her grandson, even though she had been reluctant at first.
  • Summary of the story the grandmother told:
  • The story takes place long before Poké Balls or Pokémon Trainers existed. Renji was a young boy who loved playing and exploring the forest alone, despite his parents’ warnings. The village had already driven out the aggressive Pokémon, so he felt safe. Renji didn’t realize he had entered a forbidden area. A pack of Houndour attacked and took everything from him. All that remained of his family was a small, brave Growlithe.

End of the story (unfinished):
Years later, Renji and Growlithe had become inseparable. However, a new problem arose — there were reports of rampaging Pokémon near the village, worrying the residents.

Town Square

  • You are playing as Renji with a level 30 Growlithe. You can change moves by pressing Start (Party > Growlithe > Summary > Battle Moves > press Start).
  • There is an old man with glasses selling scrolls in the town square, but they are not yet available for purchase.
    ▶ Image
  • After that, walk left/west toward the Town Outskirts.

Tips: Press the A button on all suspicious objects such as flashing items, rocks, tree stumps, or strange spots on the ground. These objects often hide valuable items.

Town Outskirts

  • Walk west and you will find two paths: one to the west and one to the north, blocked by a guard.
  • Walk north. Suddenly, a guard stops you and warns you that there is a rampaging creature ahead.
  • Continue walking north toward the Mountain Path.

  • Warning: You can only change moves in safe areas. Once you enter the Mountain Path, you cannot change moves because it is a dangerous zone. So change moves in safe places like the Town Square and Town Outskirts.
  • Recommended moves: Howl, Aerial Ace/Bite.
Mountain Path
Explore every corner of the Mountain Path. There are several very useful items you can find:

  • Oran Berry
  • Exp. Candy M
  • Quick Claw
  • Sitrus Berry
  • Silk Scarf (on a tree stump)
  • Charcoal

Tips: Press the A button on all suspicious objects such as flashing items, rocks, tree stumps, or strange spots on the ground. These objects often hide valuable items.

  • Defeating wild Pokémon also has a chance to drop berries.
  • Keep walking north until you reach a swamp. There, you will see a small blue creature it’s a Wooper. It’s not alone, because it soon calls its friend, a Quagsire. Both immediately challenge you to a Double Battle.
    ▶ Image

  • Wooper (Level 30)
  • Quagsire (Level 26)

  • Even though Wooper’s level is quite high, don’t be afraid. Its HP is relatively low, so prioritize attacking Wooper first to take it down quickly. Use moves like Bite or Aerial Ace both are quite effective against them.
  • After the battle ends, check the spot where Wooper was standing. There is a flashing object there. Approach and take it you will receive a Pearl.
  • Now return to the Town Outskirts and talk to the guard from earlier.

Town Outskirts

  • Once you arrive, tell the guard what just happened, that the blue creature (Wooper) was infected by some kind of shadowy aura that made it go berserk. The guard falls silent for a moment, then says he has heard about a darkness plague mentioned in an ancient temple located in the Rocky Path. He can call another guard and have him escort you to the temple.
    ▶ Image
  • Talk to the guard. He offers two options: heal your Pokémon or take you directly to the Rocky Path.
  • Return briefly to the Town Square first.

Town Square (Scroll Seller Info)
The old man with glasses who sells scrolls is now available. He sells TMs such as:

▶ Image

  • TS02 Sunny Day : 400
  • TS05 Psychic Fangs : 800
  • TS06 Breaking Swipe : 800
  • TS07 Play Rough : 800

Now return to the guard in the Town Outskirts.

Town Outskirts

  • Before heading to the Rocky Path, make sure you’ve prepared moves for your Growlithe. Here’s my recommendation: Mud-Slap/Dig, Morning Sun, Thunder Fang, and Howl. For the held item, equip an Oran Berry or Sitrus Berry (Sitrus Berry is more recommended).
  • Once you’re ready, talk to the guard. Choose the option to heal your Pokémon first if any are injured, then select Rocky Path. He will escort you there.

Rocky Path

  • After arriving, walk left, climb the stairs, then continue to the northern area. Thoroughly explore every corner of this place, as there are many useful items scattered around.

Tips: Press the A button on all suspicious objects — flashing items, rocks, tree stumps, or strange spots on the ground. These objects often hide valuable items.
Items you can find here:

  • Sitrus Berry
  • Energy Root
  • TS01 Swift
  • Expert Belt
  • Stardust
  • Razor Claw
  • Razor Fang

  • Take time to level up until your Growlithe reaches Level 36 in the grassy areas of Rocky Path. The Pokémon you’ll face next are quite difficult. If your Pokémon’s HP drops while grinding, just talk to the guard to heal.
  • Once you’re strong enough, keep walking north until you find a temple. As you approach it, suddenly…
  • Three temple guardian Pokémon appear: Jolteon, Flareon, and Vaporeon. They immediately attack you.

Quick Walkthrough Pokémon Fire of Sky version 1.0.3
 First Battle – Double Battle:

  • Jolteon (Level 31)
  • Flareon (Level 31)
The most effective way to defeat them is by using Dig. Focus your attacks on one at a time to reduce their numbers quickly.
Second Battle:
Vaporeon (Level 36)
This Pokémon has a high level and strong defenses. It also uses dangerous shadow-themed moves:

  • Shadow Mist :  Lowers the target’s evasion.
  • Shadow Break : Deals damage with no side effects.
  • Shadow Chill : Shadow version of Ice Beam, with a 10% chance to freeze the target.
  • Muddy Water : Hits all opponents and has a 30% chance to lower their accuracy.
  • My strategy was to simply spam Thunder Fang repeatedly  it worked very effectively against Vaporeon. When your HP gets low, immediately use Oran Berry, Sitrus Berry, or Energy Root from your bag.
  • After defeating all three temple guardians, they leave. You can now calmly examine the temple. You read about the legendary mystic bird Ho-Oh and the Shadowy Blight that is said will destroy the entire land.
  • Before leaving, press A on the rock to the right of the temple. There is a hidden item: TS04 Wild Charge.
  • Now return to the guard in Town Outskirts and talk to him.

Town Outskirts

  • You tell the guard everything that happened at the Rocky Path. After hearing your story, he suggests that you go to Mountain Summit, the peak of the mountain where the rainbow bird Ho-Oh resides. Only Ho-Oh can cleanse this land from the dark plague.
  • Now, head to Town Square.

Town Square

  • Talk to the old man selling scrolls again. This time, he has more scrolls available. You can buy TS08 Temper Flare and TS09 Close Combat,  two moves that will likely be useful for your upcoming journey.
    ▶ Image
  • After shopping, return to the guard in Town Outskirts.

Town Outskirts

  • Before heading to the summit, do your final preparations. Level up your Growlithe to Level 46–50 or higher. The enemy waiting ahead is no ordinary threat.
  • Once you’re ready, talk to the guard and choose the Mountain Summit option. He will escort you there.

Mountain Summit

  • As soon as you arrive, walk north. Explore every corner, both to the right and left, because many useful items are scattered throughout the area.
Tips: As usual, press the A button on all suspicious objects: flashing items, rocks, tree stumps, or strange spots on the ground.066

  • Exp. Candy M
  • X Attack
  • X Defense
  • Energy Root
  • Life Orb
  • Heat Rock
  • Rocky Helmet

  • After you’ve finished exploring, continue walking north. You will find stairs leading to the mountain peak. This is the final battle. Don’t forget to save your game.

Mountain Peak

  • The moment you step onto the peak, the sky suddenly changes. From afar, a large shadowy figure flaps its wings. Ho-Oh appears, but it is not the Ho-Oh you know. Its eyes are dark, shrouded in an aura of darkness. The battle against Shadow Ho-Oh begins.

Shadow Ho-Oh (Level 40)

Quick Walkthrough Pokémon Fire of Sky version 1.0.3
 Moves it uses:

  • Shadow Fire: Special attack with 75 base power and 100% accuracy. Similar to Flamethrower, with a 10% chance to burn the target.
  • Shadow Rave: Special attack with 70 base power that hits all opponents. Dark aura shoots up from the ground in the form of shadow spears.
  • Shadow Storm: Special attack with 75 base power. Creates a shadow tornado that targets one opponent and sometimes raises the user’s stats.
  • My Strategy: Honestly, my approach was quite reckless. I used a level 48 Growlithe and just spammed Wild Charge. Yes, Wild Charge is dangerous because of the recoil damage that eats into your own HP, but with a Sitrus Berry held item, your HP recovers whenever it drops to a critical level. Surprisingly, it worked. Just three hits and Shadow Ho-Oh’s HP was nearly gone.
  • But that was my way. You don’t have to copy it. Use whatever strategy feels most comfortable for you.
  • After you successfully defeat Shadow Ho-Oh, a cutscene plays. Growlithe evolves into Arcanine because it wants to protect you! Together, you purge the dark plague from the land.

THE END.

This game has a very compelling story that carries deep messages about loss, death, sacrifice, and true love. The dialogue where the grandson says, “Grammy, that’s kinda dark,” and the grandmother replies, “That’s life, buddy,” feels incredibly realistic. It shows that this story was intentionally created to teach lessons about life.
What I loved the most is how the story emphasizes that bonds are stronger than anything else. Arcanine didn’t evolve because of an Evolution Stone, but because of its strong desire to protect Renji. Arcanine became a “legend” not because of its power, but because of its sacrifice.
Thank you, Teon. The game was really fun.
