Walkthrough Part 9 Pokemon Amethyst : Exploration Surf & Go Tsarvosa City

 

After you successfully made Team Pluto flee to who knows where, their threat has been neutralized. Thanks to the HM03 Surf gift from Alistair, our HM collection has now grown! So far we've got: HM01 Cut, HM05 Rock Smash, HM02 Fly, and HM03 Surf.

Our next main objective is clear: head to Tsarvosa City to challenge the Gym Leader and claim our seventh badge. If you want to get to Tsarvosa City quickly, you can go to Route 1, head toward the beach, and Surf westward (left) through Route 16 and Route 23 until you reach Tsarvosa City. But before rushing off to Tsarvosa City, there's something interesting we can do. Now that we can traverse water thanks to HM03 Surf, this is the perfect time to backtrack to previous routes, caves, or cities. There are plenty of areas, hidden trainers, and items we couldn't access before because they were blocked by water. This step is entirely optional, but it will be very rewarding!

Route 2 (Nugget & TM96)

• Go to Anthra Town, then walk upward toward Route 2. On the left, you'll see a body of water.
• Surf over there, then move downward. There's a Poké Ball you can pick up containing a Nugget.
• Surf upward again. On the right, you'll find a trainer, and next to them is a Poké Ball containing TM96 Nature Power.
• Surf further upward to find a Poké Ball containing a Choice Scarf.

Torma Cave (Rocky Helmet)

• Head to Torma Cave. Walk northeast near the ladder area.
• Use Surf and move upward. There's a Poké Ball you can pick up containing a Rocky Helmet.

Route 6 (Rare Candy)

• Go to Daimyn City, then walk south (downward) until you find the gate leading to Route 6.
• Once there, walk to the left, then Surf and move left. You'll see a Poké Ball containing a Rare Candy.
• From there, Surf downward again to find a Poké Ball containing an Iron.

Chained Route: Route 8 ➔ Route 6 ➔ Heleo Ranch

• Go to Route 8 and enter its cave. Use Surf inside the cave to find a Poké Ball containing a Rare Candy.
• Back to Route 6: Exit through the Route 8 cave entrance, Surf, then move east (right) toward the waters of Route 6. You'll find a Poké Ball containing a Damp Rock.
• 
   

• From the Damp Rock location, Surf upward again. You'll find the Mega Stone Blastoisite.
  
  
• Heleo Ranch: From the Blastoisite location, Surf again and move east (right) to enter the waters of Heleo Ranch. Here you'll find a Poké Ball containing a Terrain Extender.

Route 10 (TM64)

• Go to Daimyn City, then walk east toward the gate to Route 10.
• Once there, move downward (south), then use Surf to the left. You'll find a Poké Ball containing TM64 Explosion.

Peradon Forest (Heracronite)

• Go to Peradon Forest and look for a small pond inside the forest.
• Use Surf on the small pond to find the Mega Stone Heracronite.

Calicin Bay (TM14)

• Go to Calicin Bay (specifically where you met Clancy and Ena before).
• There's a lake there. Use Surf across the lake until you find a piece of land or a small island.
• You have to solve an ice puzzle on that island. If you succeed, you'll get a Poké Ball containing TM14 Blizzard.

Route 11 North (TM03)

• Go to Route 11 North.
• Use Surf on the water there and you'll find TM03 Psyshock.

Before Departing Route 17

• Before heading out, it's a good idea to stock up on items like plenty of Potions, Burn Heals, Antidotes, Parlyz Heals, Awakenings, lots of Repels, Revives, and Poké Balls (Great Balls and Ultra Balls) for this journey.
• Return to Anthra Town, then head east (right) toward Route 17. On Route 17, there's a cave entrance let's call route 17 cave.

Route 17 Cave: Finding TM80 Rock Slide

Before crossing over to the next route, there's a valuable secret in this cave!

• Enter Route 17 Cave and walk upward until you find a pool of water.
• Use Surf to cross the pool and keep moving upward until you find the inner cave entrance. Go inside.
• Inside, you'll see a ladder going down. Take the ladder down.
• You'll arrive in an area that looks like a rocky hill with many small staircases. Navigate the rocky staircases until you find a Poké Ball containing TM80 Rock Slide.
• After getting it, return to the starting point (the entrance of Route 17 Cave).

From Route 17 to Route 18

• To make the route easier to follow, let's start from the entrance of Route 17 Cave.
• Enter the cave, use Surf to cross the small pool, then return to dry land.
• Walk to the right until you see an exit leading to another land area of Route 17.
• From that point, keep walking south (downward) and you'll arrive at Route 18.

Route 18 (First Visit)

Upon arriving at Route 18, the main path is actually fairly straight to the east (right). However, this area holds many secrets and valuable items. Let's do some exploring.

TM92 Trick Room & Sitrus Berry

• As soon as you enter Route 18, move east (right). You'll see a beautiful flower garden.
• Enter the garden area and walk west (left) to find a Poké Ball containing TM92 Trick Room.
• In the same area, look for a green bush and press the A button to pick a hidden Sitrus Berry.

Soda Pop & Big Pearl

• If you move south, you'll arrive at a beach. On the beach's land area, there's a Poké Ball containing a Soda Pop.
• Use Surf from that beach heading east (right). You'll find a small island holding a Poké Ball containing a Big Pearl.

TM99 Dazzling Gleam

• Return to the main path and walk east (right) again.
• Turn downward, then go down the stairs there to pick up a Poké Ball containing TM99 Dazzling Gleam.

Revive & Stardust

• From the previous location, you'll notice some stairs. Go down those stairs, then walk to the right (east).
• You'll see a long wooden bridge leading south (downward). Cross the bridge to the very end—among the trees, there's a Revive.
• Continue walking south, then turn right into a narrower path. Climb the stairs, and you'll see a rock. Press A on that rock to find a hidden Stardust.

Route 18 Cave

• About halfway through Route 18, you'll see a cave entrance. Let's go inside and grab the items within! (Navigation Note: Use the Karate Trainer NPC inside this cave as your reference point).
• Iron
• Right after entering the cave, walk straight east (right).
• Turn downward until you reach the end to find a Poké Ball containing an Iron.

TM31 Brick Break

• Return to the cave entrance, walk east (right) again, then go down a little.
• Turn right again. You'll see a narrow path blocked by two rocks.
• Use Rock Smash to break the rocks, then walk upward. At the end of the corridor, you'll get TM31 Brick Break.

Dusk Ball, Full Restore & Potion

• Find the Karate Trainer inside this cave. From his position, check the rock to his right (press A) to find a hidden Dusk Ball.
• Still from the Karate Trainer's position, walk straight up. You'll see a Poké Ball containing a Full Restore.
• From the Karate Trainer again, walk downward, then turn west (left). Check the corner of the rocky wall (press A) there to pick up a hidden Potion.

Mega Stone: Galladite

• From the Potion location, move upward, then turn west (left) and keep going.
• You'll find an exit that leads to a beach area. There lies the Mega Stone Galladite!

Route 18 Rest House & Heading to Orichelle Garden

• Go back inside the cave and find the Karate Trainer again. Walk east (right), then go down, then turn east (right) until you find the main cave exit that brings you back to the land of Route 18.
• Walk east (right) and you'll come across a house.

The Flower Field Legend & Free Healing

• Go inside and talk to the siblings sitting around relaxing. They tell a legend: this route used to be a gloomy swamp, but it transformed into a beautiful flower field after an old woman gave thanks to the land. She believes the change was the work of a Pokémon, and her younger sibling insists they saw the mysterious Pokémon with their own eyes.
• Talk to the woman standing in front of the sink. She will heal your entire Pokémon team for free!

Grabbing HP Up & Continuing the Journey

• Exit the house, walk south (downward), then turn left. Keep going up until you meet a trainer named Lass Emma.
• From Lass Emma's position, walk north (upward), then turn west (left) to pick up a Poké Ball containing an HP Up.
• From where you got the HP Up, walk east (right). You'll soon arrive at a new area called Orichelle Garden!

Orichelle Garden

Entering this area, you'll be greeted by a sprawling flower field, and this also confirms the truth of the legend you heard at the Route 18 house. Although this garden isn't very large, there are a few secrets and an incredible surprise waiting for you here.

Items Around the Garden

• Before heading to the center of the garden, let's collect the items scattered around this area:
• Walk to the northwest part of the garden. You'll find a Poké Ball containing Honey.
• Don't miss the green bushes in this garden! Check and press the A button on every bush you find, because there's an Enigma Berry hidden behind them.
• Move east (right). There's a Poké Ball you can pick up containing an Eviolite (a held item that's great for boosting the defenses of Pokémon that haven't fully evolved).

Mythical Pokémon Shaymin

• After all the items are collected, head to the center of the garden.
• Walk straight north (upward). At the end, you'll see the Mythical Pokémon, Shaymin!
• You have a golden opportunity to catch it here, or you can save it for later.
• If you want to catch it, it's highly recommended to save your game first before interacting with Shaymin, so you can try again if you accidentally knock it out. Prepare plenty of Ultra Balls or Dusk Balls (if catching it at night).

Route 8 to Route 14

• Go to Route 8 where you found the fisherman's house that gave you the Good Rod. From that house, head toward the beach.
• At the beach, use Surf and move west (left). You'll find a small island (1)—there's a Poké Ball there containing a Hyper Potion.
• From that small island (1), Surf again to the west. There's another small island (2) where you'll find a Poké Ball containing an X Attack.
• From the small island (2) where you found the X Attack, Surf west (left) again. You'll find another small island (I'll call it the fishing spot) with two fishermen there. There's a rock—press A and you'll find a Net Ball.
• From the small island (fishing spot), Surf south (downward) again. You'll find another small island (3). On the west side, there's a Poké Ball containing a Shed Shell, and on the east side near a Hiker, there's a Poké Ball containing TM27 Return.
  
  
  
• From small island (3), if you move west (left), you'll reach Route 19 and Emraldin Quay. If you move south (downward), you'll reach Route 15 North.

Route 15 North

• Route 15 connects to Route 14 and Route 16. Since I started the journey from Route 14 toward Route 15 North, there's a small island on the right where you can find a hidden item on a rock, X Defense and a Carbon item near a Hiker.
• Walk downward. On the left, there's a small island with a rock—press A and you'll find a PP Max. Surf downward again and there's another small island with a Poké Ball containing a Max Revive.
• From the small island where you found the Max Revive, Surf west (left) and you'll find a fairly large island. There's a Poké Ball blocked by a large boulder—you'll need HM Strength to move that rock. Then, to the northwest, there's a Poké Ball containing TM55 Scald.
  
  
  
• Return to the small island where you found the Max Revive, then move south (downward) again toward Route 15 South.

Route 15 South

• Once you reach Route 15 South, move west (left) and you'll find a whirlpool. Enter the whirlpool—there's an island inside. Press A on the rock on that island for a hidden Max Repel, and there's a Poké Ball containing a Dragon Fang.
  
  
  
• Then Surf downward and you'll find a small island with a Poké Ball containing a Full Heal. Surf downward again and you'll find another small island called Route 15 Rest Stop.

Route 15 Rest Stop

• On Route 15 Rest Stop island, you'll find a vendor tent with a nurse who can heal your Pokémon and an item seller.
• To the south, there's a rock—press A and you'll find a Water Stone.
  
  
  
•  If you Surf left (west) from Route 15 Rest Stop, you'll reach the waters of Seppire Cove, but I don't recommend going to Seppire Cove because it requires HM Strength to explore the island. Since we don't have HM Strength yet, going there now would be a waste.
• So for now, from Route 15 Rest Stop, Surf downward (south). You'll find a small island with a Karate trainer—there's a Poké Ball containing a BrightPowder. From here, Surf downward again and you'll arrive at Route 16.

Route 16

• On Route 16, you'll find an island with several items you can pick up, like a Silk Scarf.
• From the small Route 16 island, Surf from the left (west), then turn south (downward) until you hit a dead end.
• If you turn left (west) from Route 16, you'll be taken to Route 23.
• If you move right (east) from Route 16, you'll be taken to Route 1. So head that way—you'll find a small island with a Poké Ball containing a Focus Band.
  
• Surf a little and there's another island—press A on the rock to the east for a hidden Elixir.
• From there, Surf east (right) again until you reach Route 1.

Route 1

• From Route 1, keep moving right—there's a small piece of land. Press A on the rock there for a hidden Ultra Ball, and on a small piece of land to the south, there's a Poké Ball containing a Net Ball.
• Surf east (right) again, turn slightly upward past some rocks, and you'll find a Poké Ball containing TM53 Energy Ball.
  
  
  
• If you keep going, you'll reach the beach of Route 1 and Olenic Town, then back to Anthra Town.
• Now we've finished exploring using HM03 Surf, but there are still some areas we can't explore because they require HM Strength. So let's head straight to Tsarvosa City via Route 1.

Heading to Tsarvosa City

• From Route 1 to Route 23
• After all preparations are complete, return to the beach on Route 1.
• Use Surf from that beach and head straight west (left).
• You'll pass through the waters of Route 16 until you finally land on a new shore. Welcome to Route 23!

Exploring Route 23 & the Cave's Secret

Before continuing the main journey, let's collect some valuable items around this route, including a hidden Mega Stone!

• Max Ether & Lemonade: Walk west (left) from the landing point until you see a rocky hill. There's a Poké Ball containing a Max Ether. Don't forget to check the rock to its bottom right (press A) to find a hidden Lemonade.
• Mega Stone Sharpedonite: From the rocky hill area, find a winding path north (upward) until you find a Route 23 cave entrance. Enter the cave, use Surf, then move right (east) to find an exit. Once outside, Surf north (upward) again and you'll find the Sharpedonite!
  
  
  

Super Rod & TM24 Thunderbolt

• Super Rod: Return to the rocky hill area, then keep walking west (left) until you find stairs leading north (upward). There's an old man trainer there. From his position, walk east (right) to pick up a Revive. Continue right until you find the Fishing Master's House. Talk to the Fisherman inside to get the ultimate fishing rod: the Super Rod!
  
  
  
• TM24 Thunderbolt: Exit the house, then head to the right side of the building. Surf a little, then get off and walk left through a narrow strip of land. Use Surf once more to reach a Poké Ball containing TM24 Thunderbolt.
  
  
  
• Choice Specs: Return to where the old man trainer is. Walk up a little, then check to his right to find a Poké Ball containing Choice Specs.
  
  
  

The Detour to Tsarvosa City

• Now, from the old man trainer's position, walk west (left). You'll find the main path blocked by a large boulder. Since we can't move it yet, we have to find a way around.
• Detour Route: Move down (south), turn left (west), turn up (north), then turn right (east). In the middle of this detour, you can pick up an Ultra Ball.
• From the Ultra Ball position, continue right, then turn upward to find the exit from that narrow area. You're now on the other side of the large boulder that was blocking the main path!
• Near that exit area, pick up a Poké Ball containing a Full Heal.
• Just one more step! Keep walking west (left) and you'll officially enter the gates of Tsarvosa City.
